University Degree

You do not need a Bachelor’s degree to take the TEFL/TESOL training course but please note that in some countries you will need a degree. It varies from country to country and employer to employer so contact us for more information.

EU citizens looking to work in the EU do not always need a degree as it isn’t necessary to apply for a working visa (which is when the degree is usually required.) In general though, you'll have more job options if you have a degree.

Non-native English speakers

If you are a non-native English speaker you may still apply to the course. Several non-native speakers have taken our course and have gone on to teach abroad, mostly in Prague, China or their home country. Graduates from the EU have gone on to teach in other EU countries. It can be a bit more challenging to find a job as many employers prefer to hire native English speakers. It depends on your level of English, clarity of your accent and how you do on the course. We'll do the best to assist you in finding a job and look forward to welcoming you.

Demographics of trainees

Our TEFL courses include individuals of all ages, backgrounds and nationalities. The average age is between 22 and 30 but on almost every course we have people between the ages of 30 and 70! The TEFL Worldwide trainees are mostly from the US, UK, Ireland, Canada, Australia, South Africa, and New Zealand. We've also had students from Singapore, Columbia, Romania, France, Bulgaria, Hungary, Germany, Belgium, Norway, Malaysia, Russia, Spain, Sweden, Poland, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria, Lebanon, Israel, Yemen, Zambia, and Botswana.

Typically the trainees on our TEFL (TESOL) course are individuals who enjoy working with people from different backgrounds and cultures and who want to make a difference by teaching English. Such individuals include professionals who are looking for a change in their career or life, recent college graduates who want to gain international experience and travel abroad before settling into their career, tradesmen and women who want a totally new experience and individuals who would like to spend their retirement years teaching English abroad.
